BIO
Mwata “Gotti” Mitchell is an American recording artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur from the Westside of Chicago. His journey into music began at age 21 after overcoming early life challenges, discovering a passion for rap that would ultimately launch his career in the hip-hop industry.
Gotti first rose to prominence in 1999 as part of the hip-hop duo Boo & Gotti alongside Sabrian “Boo” Sledge. Their breakthrough came with a guest appearance on R. Kelly’s “I Wish (Remix)”, followed by the chart-topping hit “Fiesta” with Jay-Z, which held the #1 position on the U.S. R&B chart for five consecutive weeks. The duo went on to collaborate with major artists including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Big Tymers, Jermaine Dupri, and Usher, while also appearing on the Fast and the Furious soundtrack.
After signing with Cash Money Records, Boo & Gotti released their debut album Perfect Timing (2003) featuring Lil Wayne and contributed to projects with Birdman and Baby. Following an amicable split in 2008, Gotti continued building his legacy through songwriting and ghostwriting for major artists before returning with solo projects such as Gotti Obama and Gotti McFly, collaborating with artists including Jim Jones, Nelly, T.I., Slim Thug, 8Ball & MJG, and Young Scooter.
Beyond music, Gotti is a successful entrepreneur and founder of G-Enterprises, a group of companies spanning media production, real estate, and business consulting. In 2025, he expanded his influence into publishing with the release of his self-help book “The Art of Being Peaceful: Seven Keys to Peacefulness,” sharing insights on personal growth, financial freedom, and finding balance in life.
